ABOUT PATI VITALE

 HER ILLNESS

"This historic fund  has been initially founded to honor and GIVE to Professional Stand Up Comedians.
Though we are individual artists, we ALL belong to "The Tribe, Comedic".
A rare & authentic breed of gifted people, that are bound together by their unique craft.
I want EVERY PROFESSIONAL COMIC to GET INVOLVED and to Support this fund.
Showing that Comedians don't just lend their talents & efforts to others in need...
but
ALSO TAKE CARE OF THEIR OWN.
Remember, THE PATI VITALE FUND Is Not A "ME" fund....It's a "WE" fund.

The Pati Vitale  Fund's future is to quickly thrive and grow to raise enough monies to evolve into a huge resource by branching out. Helping to support and/or provide many programs so that it may give in abundance  NOT only for Professional Comics, but to ALL in the Professional Performing Arts.
It will be Comedy's eternal gift that will out live us all.

Holding onto the ideals of Giving, Fellowship, Kindness, and Compassion."- Patricia Vitale

THE PATI VITALE FUND'S MISSION
is to help Professional Stand Up Comics with their immediate healthcare needs should they fall prey to serious illness.
THE PATI VITALE FUND will support direct requests for medical assistance support from Professional Stand Up Comics in healthcare crisis. In addition,The Pati Vitale Fund will support Healthcare Initiatives of THE COMEDYCURES FOUNDATION http://www.comedycures.org  and other worthy programs.

About THE PATI VITALE FUND:
Professional Stand Up Comics are the FIRST ones in the entertainment industry to donate their time and talents when people are in need, and ironically the LAST
to be thought of when THEY are in need.
They bring laughter, and work for free.
They are a special breed of entertainers, who live to make people laugh just to give others a moment of diversion from their pain,
as well as raise money for a variety of different causes.
EVERY performer on the fundraising stages for THE PATI VITALE FUND is a friend of Pati's, and will be in future fundraisers as well.

Pati has been blessed with having herself surrounded by
some of the most kind and giving people.
All who are her friends, waiting at the ready to help her achieve and
support this Fund's Mission as soon as
the availability of funding will enable this Fund to create the Program(s) and/or Foundation(s) that will be larger sources to give in times of immediate healthcare crisis.

They're all people of Greatness Because Of Their Capacity Of Heart.
Pati's future board & advisory board of
directors, are all ones of Expertise, Knowledge, Generosity, and
are of STELLAR proportions in the
Entertainment Industry or Their Chosen Professions.
This includes her Medical Board. Doctors Augustine Romano and Christopher Sinclair.
In addition, an extremely special, kind, giving, huge hearted and One Dear Man.
Pati Vitale's friend, NY Yankee Jason Giambi.

The world has been deprived of many hard working Professional Stand Up Comics,
(there are NO OVERNIGHT SENSATIONS IN STAND UP COMEDY FOLKS)
who've had to take a gig, knowing they were seriously ill, and went on stage and
performed their hearts out for the crowd because they needed the money to put food in their mouths, pay the bills, or send home to their families. They knew they were sick but they couldn't afford to go to the Local Emergency Room
and sadly, they died unnecessarily.

Pati & her devoted, many friends will do whatever they can to ensure that
COMEDY'S LEGENDS STAY LIVING & THE FUTURE ONES TO COME!
This Fund is Pati's Gift to HERSELF and to HER BELOVED FELLOW COMEDIC TRIBE OF PERFORMERS.
She will be able to get the funds she needs for expensive testing, and other things she needs to function,as she is suffering from a yet to be diagnosed neuro muscular illness.
The most important thing to Pati, is she will be able to
GIVE BACK IN RETURN TO THOSE IN NEED AS WELL.
Even though Pati has a husband with heathcare benefits, they do not nearly cover the
costs for even her basic maintenance medications that she must take to keep her symptoms at bay.
She must forego testing, treatments, and even much needed prescriptions at times.
Unfortunatley, most healthcare plans are not aware that they are killing by denying.

90% Of Professional Stand Up Comics today do not have the luxury that Pati is afforded by having a spouse with benefits.
They work from gig to gig. They are artists who are driven and are unsung heros due to the generosity of their time and talents that they give at a moment's notice to help anyone they can when someone is in need.

To quote what Dennis Miller said about how Stand Up Comics are viewed
to Pati one night in 1995,
"We are just two rungs above jugglers and mimes on the showbiz ladder".

As more monies are raised through this Fund, Pati along with her brothers and sisters in arms for this cause, are determined and committed to bring to fruition, a Program(s)and/or Foundation(s) of a larger scale that will
branch out in many directions, painting the landscape of giving with a
broader stroke that covers all areas of the
Professional Creative Performing Arts.

Something that will outlive us all and be a constant, perpetual wheel of motion. Serving those who brighten our lives with their colorful talents.

THE FAITH THAT IN THE FUTURE THIS FUND WILL GROW, AND BE ABLE TO AID AND ASSIST ALL PERFORMERS IN THE PROFESSIONAL CREATIVE ARTS. NOT JUST PROFESSIONAL STAND UP COMEDIANS.

Professional Stand Up Comics are a proud breed.
They're not inclined to ask outside of their "own" for help.
Especially when it comes to money.
Pati thought this fund and it's mission would be formed upon her death, as a thank you to all of her friends in the Stand Up Comedic Community.
Well, SHE'S STILL ALIVE, WITH BIG BRASS BEHIND HER TO HELP HER FRIENDS IN NEED AS WELL AS HERSELF!

THIS FUND AND THE FUTURE OUTREACH ENDEAVORS IT HOPES TO ATTAIN, WILL OUT LIVE ALL OF US AND BE A LOVING LEGACY TO THE PERFORMING ARTS.

ABOUT PATI VITALE

For those of you who do not know me, here's a brief summary of who I was before I got sick.
I was/am a professional Stand Up Comic since 1993. I have been in 2 TV pilots, appeared on over 9 National TV Shows, was a semi-regular on 3 radio shows, most notably as the "Psycho Psychic on Z100's Z Morning Zoo". I, along with other talented comics earned the distinguished title of "Internet Radio Pioneers", as we were the first to do so. The New York Times did an article about us, that places us in the annuls of internet and broadcasting history.
I was in several Improvisation Troupes, and have had featuring roles in 3 independant films. I also had a weekly comedy show at Rascals comedy club called,"Chick Shtick" for 2 years when it was located in West Orange NJ. All of these accomplishments are the past, and mean nothing to me. They never did. I'm dubbed by others an "Underground Comedy Legend" & a "Cult Celebrity".

What I've done & what labels others have kindly bestowed upon me, is of no importance because it has never defined who I am. I was & STILL in it for the sheer joy of the journey, and never the destination. I have many friends in the entertainment industry because what they were "doing' or "did" never mattered to me. I only cared about who they were as people, and still do. I'm not famous to the public. But I am infamous to those who've met me, know me, befriended me, and love me.I'm remembered for my presence, my wackiness, my straight fowardness, and my kindness to my fellow comedians and entertainers. I've participated in many  unforgettable green room antics. I'm a writer, digital artist, poet, and web designer now and have been for over 12 years. I'm fortunate that I am able to still be creative in that regard.
Okay, that's enough of that! Even writing this screams of a lack of humility. That's not me. I am and will always be humble.

MY ILLNESS

I was misdiagnosed in 2001 with "Symptomatic" Multiple Sclerosis without lesions on the brain. (therefore, no viable treatment could be given) I just had a dropped left foot, and a weak left leg. The spring of 2004, The weakness spread to my upper left extremities, my face. By winter of this 2004, my balance was off, my speech had been affected, slurring words stammering, dropping syllables, even when typing.    My Neurologist ran a battery of blood tests MRIs, painful electrode stimulation tests, etc.

Thankfully virtually ALL of my symptoms are now kept under control due to a good combination of powerful medications.
Still, there is no diagnosis.
I still get spasms due to muscle fatique.
My fine motor skills are much better due to the meds, but still feel at times, out of sync. my brain didn't process others facial expressions or verbality correctly.
I still need assistance shopping, and other minor tasks due to now occasional disorientation and tremoring.  I have to take all kinds of muscle relaxers, anti seizure meds, anti depressants, and sleep aids.
 My former & brilliant neurologist,
Dr Christopher Sinclair ,
(who is only my "former" because he now has his own practice in Middletown, Conn.)
and my new & equally brilliant Neurologist, Dr. Augustine Romano of Sound Neurology in Port Jefferson, NY, is working very aggressively to fix me. Dr. Sinclair says I'm an enigma. This disease, in my opinion is the enigma.  My team of doctors are baffled, but determined to get to the bottom of  what's wrong. They do no with certainty that I do not have MS, ALS, Parkinsons, Lyme, or any related disease.

Doctors Sinclair and Romano are both Advisory Board Members on
The Pati Vitale Fund.
As it stands right now, my medical team , until they can or ever can get a diagnosis, are fully dedicated to diminishing my symptoms. More importantly, they want to ensure with medications, that my QUALITY OF LIFE be of the utmost importance.
I am still mentally sharp. I can drive short distances fine, but must rest in the car before driving again, or my body freaks out. I'm at my creative best and I have no problem with my job as a writer, artist or webdesigner/manager for my  clients. In fact, working to create The Pati Vitale Fund, keeping my creativity and webwork are the only things that keep the sick part of my brain distracted, vibrant, and give me the determination to help my fellow Professional Comedians  through
THE PATI VITALE FUND.

"I choose Life, and I will not leave without fighting , kicking and screaming.
I have yet to make my mark on the world.
That has been my calling ever since I can remember.
I rebuke being a sentimental footnote in people's photo albums or memories.
I want to see my children graduate high school, college, become married, and be able to hold my grandchildren.
I still have great things to accomplish and give to the world." -
  Patricia Vitale
Thank you!
